Copperfield Gallery is a new project from Will Lunn, co-director of the recently closed Sumarria Lunn Gallery. The gallerist says he's planning to use his experience to create new artistic possibilities. Copperfield Gallery is housed in a former church hall (the church itself is nearby), and the lighting inside is special – natural light comes in through windows near the high ceiling and doesn't create any annoying glare.

As it turns out, the space used to be a recording studio, and Depeche Mode's first album was recorded here. The gallery's plans include taking part in art festivals and finding female artists to work with (to maintain balance, Will says).

FYI: Exhibition hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., or any time by appointment.
