Galleria Monica de Cardenas

The Italian version of art dealer Monica de Cardenas' international gallery (the second is in Switzerland) focuses on contemporary conceptual art, including photography. De Cardenas is a perfectionist when it comes to selecting artworks and it shows — the collection is fabulous, not a single forgettable artist.

Among the big names are Alex Katz, Franz Gertsch, Tomory Dodge, and Barnaby Furnas. There's also a Russian, Pavel Pepperstein.

Check out Valerio Carrubba's strange figures, Stephan Balkenhol's unusual, painted wooden sculptures, and Juul Kraijer's mesmerizing drawings. Exhibitions of works in the permanent and temporary collections change often, so there's always something interesting to see.
