Located in the lively Soho area, this hotel is a favorite among actors, movie producers, and glossy magazine editors. It's part of the well-known Firmdale Hotels group, already a byword for stunning and distinctive design.

Firmdale's signature style combines British classicism and boho-chic and incorporates lots of bright colors and prints. Creative spirits and fans of contemporary art will feel right at home. Right on the first floor, guests are greeted by a gigantic bronze cat from Columbian sculptor Fernando Botero. Abstract paintings and conceptual photographs hang on the walls.

The hotel's 96 rooms includes suites and six apartments. Everything down to the tiniest detail has been thought out: cutting-edge Tivoli sound systems, fresh flowers, etc. Some details are really amusing, such as using tailors dummies instead of regular clothes hangers (the mannequins actually work great!). Some suites include fireplaces. The top-floor corner suites feature terraces with unbeatable, panoramic views of the city.

The Soho Hotel boasts a restaurant-bar with the ironic name "Refuel," a reference to the fact that there was once a parking lot here instead of a hotel. At Refuel, you can rub shoulders with local celebrities and enjoy contemporary British cuisine. Afternoon tea is served every day except Sunday. There's a gym and a spa on-site. Wi-Fi is included in the room charge.

FYI: The small screening room shows new releases from around the world, as well as sporting events and even live broadcasts of London theater performances.

Rooms start at £322/night.
