The Ludlow hotel opened in busy Manhattan's Lower East Side rather recently, in the summer of 2014. It quickly became a favorite among trendsetters and artists. The hotel’s success among creative minds was predictable since the famous hotelier Sean MacPherson took part in its design. His projects are without fail trendy and bohemian, the case in point being The Marlton or The Bowery.

Sean wanted The Ludlow to represent New York of the early 1980s, when Warhol and Basquiat were still active, when hip-hop came out of the Bronx, and the whole world was crazy about the band Ramones.  The hotel features 184 lofts (including 20 suites) from space efficient Studio Full to humongous Penthouse. We liked Skybox Loft the best, located on the upper floors with panoramic windows and small balconies, which guarantee awe inspiring views of Manhattan.

True gourmands would appreciate the critically acclaimed restaurant Dirty French with chef’s special take on French cuisine. After the dinner check out the bar to have a cocktail by the fireplace or settle at the comfortable green patio. Wi-Fi and breakfasts are included in the room price.

Key info: we were pleasantly surprised by the gowns by Maison Margiela at the bathroom, mini-bars have gluten free and vegan snacks.

Rooms start at $255 per night.
